Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is a leading global manufacturer of air conditioners and a range of other industrial and consumer goods. Based in Japan, Mitsubishi is building an alliance with one of Thailand’s best-known football clubs for the 2022-23 season. Through this alliance, Mitsubishi wishes to benefit society and develop players for top Asian leagues. The Mitsubishi Heavy Industries logo will feature prominently on this season’s jersey.
This new alliance is the extension of Muangthong United’s 2022 partnership with J.League powerhouse Urawa Red Diamonds, which is closely connected with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Group. The two clubs are similar in many ways. They both share the iconic “REDS” identity, and they both believe in developing “grass roots” players.
The alliance was formalised at the signing ceremony on Thursday August 4th, 2022, at Muangthong United’s Thunderdome Stadium, from 1 pm. Present from Mitsubishi were Mr. Hideto Kurosawa, Head of Planning & Administration Team, Sports Promotion Center Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Present on behalf of Muangthong United was Mr Wilak Lohtong, Chairman, along with other club officials. Flanking the executive personnel were members of the coaching staff from both teams.
The ceremony was streamed live on the club’s YouTube and Facebook channels, allowing fans to be part of the experience. The highlight was the revealing of the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries logo on the 2022-23 jersey. This was followed by an exchange of gifts. The event was wisely covered by the various news and sports media present.
Mr Kurosawa said, "The Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Sports Challenge seeks to develop communities and provide for the well being of society. Under our corporate brand we've encouraged participation in various athletics, including football, rugby, baseball, and marathons. Now, with this sponsorship of Muangthong United, a leading Thai football club, we've extended this challenge to a more global scale. For this we are very pleased, and honoured.

Young footballers from nearby Wat Phasuk Maneejak School, and also Wat Ku, will learn and practice fundamental skills of football and develop principles of teamwork.
