Muangthong United unable to find the net in home match loss to Buriram

In one of the biggest matches of the season, Thai league giants and rival Buriram United visited The Thunderdome, looking to close the gap on league leaders Bangkok United.  Muangthong United entered the game buoyed on their away match win over Ratchaburi.  Helping the Kirin's chances was the return of Sardor Mizaez, however, pivotal midfielder Picha Autra was unavailable.

Muangthong United v Buriram United is a match well attended by fans of Thai football as the two clubs have won the league multiple times and like nothing more than to defeat the other.

With Buriram United significantly strengthen with new signings over the transfer window, Muanghtong United coach Mario Gjurovski expected a close and challenging game.

The sole goal of the match came early on with a free-kick for Buriram.  The ball was hit past the wall on the near side, and while Muangthong United's keeper Perrapong was able to get a hand on the shot it was not enough to deflect the ball past the back of the net.

The two sides exchanged chances throughout the match, and key defensive performances from both clubs denied goals.  Time expired and the Kirin must accept the loss knowing they'd fought well and played good football.
