MATCH PREVIEW: Kirin prepare for their toughest match yet

Muangthong United return to the Thunderdome Stadium tomorrow for what promises to be their toughest test of the season so far, as they host an undefeated Ratchaburi FC in Matchday 5 of the Thai League 1.

Scouting Report: The Undefeated Dragons

Ratchaburi FC, known as “The Dragons,” have had a formidable start to the 2025-26 campaign. They currently sit in 2nd place with 10 points and remain one of the few undefeated teams in the league. Their strong form is powered by goals from key players, including former Kirin midfielder Thanawat Suengchitthawon and Brazilian forward Denilson Jr.

The visitors arrive at the Thunderdome following a demanding midweek trip to Vietnam, where they faced Nam Dinh F.C. in the AFC Champions League 2. The 3-1 defeat on Thursday night, and the long journey back, play in Muangthong’s favour.

The Kirin Connection: Familiar Faces in the Opposition

Sunday’s fixture will feature a number of reunions, with several former Muangthong United players now plying their trade with The Dragons. This adds an extra layer of intrigue to the contest. The list of returning players includes:

  • Adisorn Promrak
  • Thanawat Suengchitthawon
  • Suporn Peenagatapho
  • Jesse Curran
  • Teerapol Yeayoi
  • Kampol Pathom-attakul (Academy Graduate)

Team News: Kirin Eager to Bounce Back

Following a disappointing result in Rayong last weekend, the Muangthong squad is determined to deliver a strong performance in front of the home supporters. The team has been working hard this week to correct the errors from the previous match and prepare for Ratchaburi’s distinct style of play.

In terms of squad availability, defender Nelson Orji will face a late fitness test after picking up a shoulder injury against Rayong, but he is considered unlikely to feature. Emil Roback and Melvyn Lorenzen will also be a late decision.

From the Dugout

“This will be a good match, with quality football,” said Head Coach Rangsan Viwatchaichok. “They are a good team, but this week we’ve been working on the tactics needed to succeed on Sunday. We’re prepared, but we will need our supporters to come out and get behind us.”

Don’t Miss the Half-Time Challenge!

Fans attending the match will have the chance to participate in a special fan activity, the “Half-Time Challenge.” A social media contest is currently underway to find four participants. To enter, fans must answer the trivia question: ‘Name three past or present Muangthong United players who are from Ratchaburi province.’ The winners and correct answers will be revealed during the halftime break, so be sure to listen for the announcement!
