KIRIN HISTORY: A Look Back at a Crucial 2-1 Victory Over Port FC in 2015

Ten years ago this month Muangthong United secured a vital three points in a hard-fought battle away to Port FC, a victory that was crucial in the thrilling 2015 Thai Premier League title race.

On September 12, 2015, the Kirin traveled to the notoriously difficult PAT Stadium. The team, led by legendary goalkeeper and captain Kawin Thamsatchanan, was in a neck-and-neck race for the championship. The defense was marshaled by the ever-reliable Japanese center-back Naoki Aoyama, who was a cornerstone of the team during that era.

It was club icon Teerasil Dangda who opened the scoring just before halftime, finding the net in the 42nd minute. Midfielder Thitipan Puangchan then doubled the lead in the 64th minute, securing a vital 2-1 win that kept the pressure on at the top of the table.
