SCG Muangthong United announce the appointment of Kirin legend Mario Gjurovski to the role as Head Coach, effective immediately.

Mario, who had retired as a player in 2020, had always had a vision of himself in a coaching position. He will be assisted by Academy Head Darren Reid, as well as his teammate from the 2012 'Invincibles', Dagno Siaka, and Uthai Boonmoh as technical analyst.

Mario has football in his blood. His father, Milko Djurovski, was a striker for Macedonia, and like his father, Mario began his career with Red Star Belgrade in 2003.

From there Mario went on to play for several clubs and eventually the Macedonian national team in 2010, again following in the footsteps of his father.

In 2012 Mario first joined with SCG Muangthong United, and that season helped the club to the championship in a season which saw the club go undefeated.

In that season Mario partnered with Thai legend Datsakorn Thonglao, and significantly forward Teerasil 'Mui' Dangda. Together the pair became known as M&M for their ability to strike fear into the hearts of opponents.

Mario played with Muangthong United for three seasons, and then spent a couple of years at Bangkok United and Bangkok Glass, before returning briefly to the Kirin in 2019 until retirement.

Once he'd hung up his boots, they were quickly off the hook again as Mario took up a coaching role with the club's academy, and embarked on coaching qualifications and training. As well he founded an instagram channel "NUMBER 20 TALK" interviewing some of the biggest names in football.

As a player Mario was very popular with the fans for his creative play and talent, and also he's famous for his goal celebrations which were unlike no others in the league. Now, with fan support behind him, Mario is looked to once again be a champion with SCG Muangthong United, this time as the club's new head coach.
