THE ATTACKING SPEAR

Muangthong United announce the signing of Kenyan international Erik Johana Omondi ahead of Thailand's 2022-23 football season.

The 27-year-old joins from Waasland-Beveren in Belgium.  Prior to this, Johana completed four seasons in Sweden. He will wear the #19 jersey for Muangthong United. He was introduced to a large live stream audience on the club's Facebook and YouTube channels by club director Mr Ronnarit Suewaja and club president Mr Wilak Lohtong, along with Coach Mario Gjurovski.

Eric Johana is the fourth addition to the club, following Ekanit Panya, Hong Sung-Wook, and Ronan Pleijmen,

Said club Director of Football Mr Ronnarit Suewaja, "It's a good day for Muangthong to welcome Eric.  We believe he's the weapon we've been looking for.  Eric's experience in Europe, as well as the Kenyan national team, has made him into a versatile and adaptable player, able to fill many roles on the pitch."

"We wish to build a team that can create exciting and beautiful football.  He comes to us at 27 years old and we believe will help the club to success."

Coach Mario added, "This is one big piece of the puzzle for the next season, and next week we can see Eric in action in the charity match with Bangkok United.  Eric can help us with the transition and one-against-one. He is fantastic, and can score left or right just as well.  Of course, Eric will need time to adapt to playing football in Thailand, so we can not put too much pressure on him."

Eric Johana commented, "When the interest came from Muangthong United, I took a look, and the history, the amazing supporters, and the good team (fourth last year) and the coach is fantastic. Everything about this felt right, and I feel good about this decision."

"Muangthong finished fourth, and as a player, I am here to help the team to take the next step.  We have three trophies to play for this season, and we can win."

"The fans are the best in Thai League, and for the full 90 minutes, they sing and push players to win games.  This is amazing, and I look forward to seeing you in the stands."
