As a player, Ivankovic gained notable experience in Germany’s 2.Bundesliga with Chemnitzer FC. His playing career spanned clubs in his native Bosnia and Hezegovina, Lebanon, and South Korea’s Suwon Bluewings. A defender, he spent many years with HŠK Zrinjski Mostar, where, in 2007-8, he was Supporters’ Player of the Season. As a youth, he had seven appearances for Croatia.

Ivanković holds a UEFA Pro License and began his managerial career in 2022 with Bosnia and Herzegovina’s U19 team. He then went on to take charge of HŠK Zrinjski Mostar leading them to championship success in the Bosnian league, when Ivanković named Coach of the Year.
